What is 8011 H18 Aluminum Foil?
8011 aluminum alloy is an Al-Fe-Si series alloy, commonly used in pharmaceutical packaging due to its excellent oxidation resistance and mechanical strength. It contains trace amounts of iron and silicon, which enhance its mechanical properties and thermal stability.
H18 temper indicates that the foil has undergone full cold working to achieve maximum hardness, with tensile strength up to 150–180 MPa. It is not annealed and is ideal for stamping and forming applications, maintaining high rigidity with a smooth and bright surface.

Applications of Pharmaceutical Aluminum Foil
PTP Blister Packaging (Push-Through-Pack)
8011 H18 foil is laminated with PVC, PVDC, or cold-formed materials for unit-dose packaging of tablets and capsules. Its features include:
High barrier performance: Prevents moisture, oxygen, or light from degrading pharmaceuticals.
Forming precision: Hard temper foil allows accurate die-cutting and stable blister shape.
Heat-sealing capability: Works well with pharmaceutical adhesives to ensure airtight sealing.
Composite Films and Sealing Materials
As a barrier layer in multilayer laminates, 8011 H18 Aluminum foil is used with PE, PET and other materials for infusion bag seals or powder sachets, effectively isolating drugs from the external environment.
Comparison with Other Alloys and Tempers
▶ 8011 vs. 8021 / 8079 Aluminum Foil
8021 aluminum foil is commonly used for ultra-thin packaging (<0.006mm), but 8011 offers better cost-performance within 0.02–0.08mm range and higher tensile strength.
8079 aluminum foil has superior corrosion resistance, while 8011 offers better formability for complex blister forming.
▶ H18 vs. H22 / H24 Temper
H18 is full-hard temper, offering maximum strength but lower ductility. Suitable for single-stamp blister forming without deep drawing.
H22/H24 (semi-hard) are better for multi-step forming or complex shapes, offering a balance between strength and flexibility.
